Call of Duty 2023: New Game, Modern Warfare 2 Extension from Sledgehammer and Activision

It appears that Activision is looking to release a full game for the next installment in the beloved Call of Duty franchise. According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, the publisher has decided against releasing a CoD title this year and instead opted for a “premium expansion” to build on Modern Warfare II. Plans have changed, and an entirely new standalone, full-price title will be released in 2023.

The extension is intended to carry over maps and game modes from MW2 while still offering fans something new. However, as with any development process significant changes are being made along the way, so exact details remain uncertain until closer to launch. What we do know is that Sledgehammer Games are leading development on this project after their success with Call of Duty WW2 back in 2017. They will be working alongside Treyarch Studios, who were responsible for Black Ops 3 & 4, and Infinity Ward, who created Modern Warfare 2 itself, so we can expect some top talent working together here!

What kind of content players can look forward too upon release remains unknown. Still, speculation suggests it won't be called Modern Warfare 3 or directly continue story elements from its predecessor. Instead it's thought this may be more focused on multiplayer experiences such as Warzone, which first appeared last year - providing gamers with intense battle royale gameplay set within the familiar world populated by iconic characters like Captain Price or Soap MacTavish!

Despite no official confirmation yet from either studio or publisher there have been some rumors circulating suggesting a possible open beta sometime later this summer ahead of its supposed fall launch window - giving us all an opportunity get hands-on experience before committing fully! This would make sense considering how successful betas have been recently, proving developers with invaluable feedback improve their games before official launches occur - not only creating better products but also building up hype around them, too, which benefits everyone involved!

While nothing has been officially announced yet about any sort of open beta for CoD 2023, it does seem likely, at least given recent trends across other titles released within same genre (such Battlefield 5). Regardless though, we should expect further news during coming months regarding what exactly Sledgehammer Games & Treyarch Studios plan offer when they finally unveil their latest creation later frame!
