Charming Pokémon-Themed microSD Cards Launch for Nintendo Switch Fans
- Aug 21, 2024
A delightful new series of microSD cards tailored for the Nintendo Switch has been introduced by Western Digital, showcasing a charming collaboration with The Pokémon Company. These cards combine functionality with enchanting visuals, making them a must-have for fans of both gaming and cute designs.
The new SanDisk microSD cards can be obtained through the Western Digital Store as well as various retail and online platforms. They come in three different sizes, with the largest being the 1TB SanDisk Pokémon Snorlax microSD Card. Dressed in a soft baby blue, this card displays an adorable depiction of Snorlax.
Next in line is the 512GB SanDisk Pokémon Gengar microSD Card, which sports a rich purple color and showcases the beloved ghost-type Pokémon, Gengar. Lastly, the smallest option is the 256GB SanDisk Pokémon Pikachu microSD Card, vibrant in neon yellow, featuring a cheerful representation of Pikachu.
Each of these models proudly features Nintendo Switch branding, ensuring no compatibility concerns arise when used with the console. Additionally, they are equipped with impressive performance specifications, boasting read speeds of up to 100MB/s and write speeds of 90MB/s, aligning perfectly with Nintendo's recommendations.
The pricing for these cards is as follows: the 1TB card is set at $129.99 / £108.99, the 512GB card at $54.99 / £47.99, and the 256GB card at $32.99 / £24.99. While this places them at a slightly elevated price point compared to similar microSD cards, there is potential for discounts during major sales like Amazon Prime Day or Black Friday. Paying a bit extra for Pokémon-themed designs and Nintendo affiliation appears justifiable.
Previously, Western Digital has launched a variety of other themed designs for the Nintendo Switch, including those inspired by the Super Mario franchise and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These offerings are well-regarded for their appealing aesthetics and seamless compatibility with the system, making them top contenders among microSD cards for Switch enthusiasts.
