Twitter to Test New Search Subscribe Feature Soon
- Jun 20, 2022
When we speak about what’s new about Twitter subscriptions, we usually mean paid ones, given the attention Elon Musk pays to Twitter Blue and other paid options. But the new subscription option by Twitter is something more interesting. Soon you’ll be able to subscribe to certain search results as easily as now it is to follow a certain user.
This seems a very welcome addition to actual Twitter functionality. So far it’s reportedly under testing, and this may take an indefinite period of time, though. There hasn’t been any official announcement either. It was first revealed by a Twitter user named Dylan Roussel (@evowizz) in the tweet where the screenshots hint at it unambiguously.
What we may suppose now is that Twitter may add a bell-shaped button with a “+” sign next to the search field. This button will enable you to subscribe to all the tweets that match certain criteria, for example, contain your search query. Then you’ll be notified if someone posts a related tweet. With zzpopular requests, of course, it may become a notification hell. So far, though, the author confesses he hasn’t received any notifications about search results.
Another new thing spotted by Dylan Roussel is called “Notes”, and it’s found in the user profile. The blogger does not know what it is exactly, but he promises to keep his eye on it. As we may guess, this feature may be a basic notepad where one can keep their drafts and then publish them in one touch when necessary. But it’s only a guessing, so the result may be completely different; for example, instead of just favoriting tweets, you can save them here with private comments.
Would you use this feature once it becomes public? Do you think it will be available to all Twitter users or to Twitter Blue subscribers only? If you have something to say, welcome to the comments!
