Valve Bids Farewell to MacOS Users with Termination of Counter-Strike 2 Support

MacOS users face disappointment today as Valve announces the end of Counter-Strike 2 support on this platform.

As Counter-Strike embarks on its much-anticipated new phase, the developers have chosen to stand down on rolling out support for environments employing DirectX 9, MacOS, and 32-bit operating systems.

However, all is not lost for those who have invested in Prime Status for the Source 2 update. Valve has announced that from this day forward, anyone who purchased Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or CS2 between March 22 and September 27 on outdated setups will be eligible for refunds. The affected players are given until December 1 to avail of the reimbursement.

Affected users still have the opportunity to engage with CS:GO as Valve will maintain a legacy version of the game for those keen on revisiting former triumphs. However, this version will no longer receive any updates.

In a further development, CS:GO servers are now on borrowed time, with an end to comprehensive support for the Global Offensive arenas scheduled for the newborn year's inaugural day.

The preserved version of CS:GO will lack only one feature: matchmaking. Players can continue engaging with private servers; however, official Valve lobbies will be off-limits. However, CS2 is set to experience numerous updates in the upcoming months.

Counter-Strike 2 has been frequently updated by Valve since its full-fledged release. The game has seen seven distinct updates of different scales since September 27, and Valve has no intentions of pressing the brakes, at least for now.

Most recently, Valve has been addressing hitbox issues, primarily with regard to players being able to hunker down while defusing bombs, causing a hitbox misplacement. This little hiccup created quite a stir on social media a few days ago, yet Valve swiftly rolled out a patch to eradicate the error.
