Mojang to End Support for Minecraft on PSVR Starting March 2025

Mojang Studios has revealed its intentions to discontinue support for Minecraft on PlayStation VR next year. The announcement was made in the latest patch notes for the game, confirming that updates will cease for the PSVR version starting in March 2025.

The developer stated that the capacity to maintain PlayStation VR support has concluded and that no further updates will be made post-March 2025. Following the last update, players will still receive updates for their PlayStation and will retain access to their gameplay without using PlayStation VR.

Mojang assured players they can continue enjoying their saved worlds and that in-game purchases from the Marketplace, such as Tokens, would still be accessible. Despite this, the usage of PlayStation VR with Minecraft will come to an end, as it will not be supported in future updates.

It appears that the studio has taken down the Minecraft VR webpage, which now leads to an error page when visited. Recently, Mojang also indicated it is actively developing a native PS5 version of Minecraft; however, details regarding a potential transition of the game to PlayStation VR2 remain uncertain.

Moreover, the game will see an increase in content releases going forward, moving away from a singular free update during the summer. Instead, players can look forward to several free game drops scattered throughout the year, as Mojang shifts its efforts towards long-term projects aimed at continuously evolving Minecraft in the years to come.
