Twitter to Add More New Features Soon

One of the most interesting ways to see upcoming changes in popular services is reverse engineering of their apps. Twitter, recently acquired by Elon Musk, seems to have a lot to come in store. There is more to it than just the long-anticipated Edit button. Maybe we are soon to witness one of the most important series of updates in the entire history of Twitter.

One of these features is what other social media (and even some messengers, like WhatsApp) have implemented long ago. We’re talking statuses. This feature was spotted by Dylan Roussel who initially suggested it will be a sort of Facebook status, showing whether the user is online at the moment. Indeed, it will rather resemble custom WhatsApp statuses, with an array of predefined options (like auto responses in your phone app) and maybe an ability to set your own one. There will also be an ability to search by status and see who else around has set the same status as you.

Another feature that seems promising is the ability to combine different types of media in one tweet. Now, you can only go with videos or with photos, but not both. This may change soon, and for those intending to post a certain bunch of media files, it will result in posting fewer tweets and not splitting the material.

Finally, Twitter is reportedly working on Awards feature that seems inspired by Reddit. With it, users will be able to give awards to other users for their tweets. A tweet will also have a counter button showing how many times it has been awarded.

Some important new features appeared even before the famous acquisition. The most prominent of them, along with editing tweets, was Spaces, a Clubhouse-like audio room zone, and it turned to be quite successful. Also, Twitter expressed its interest in podcasts. All in all, it seems to be the most experimenting social media now.
