Navigating The Glowing Sea: A Comprehensive Guide for Fallout 4
- Jul 09, 2024
After successfully completing the Dangerous Minds mission, the next quest is “The Glowing Sea” in Fallout 4. I met with Doctor Amari, and she gave you a mission - to locate Virgil, hiding in the radiation-heavy area known as The Glowing Sea.
Before venturing to The Glowing Sea, equip yourself with a radiation suit or bring along your Power Armour. Here’s how to get through this quest.
At the initiation of your journey, loot Doctor Amari's office for medical supplies. Procure the RobCo Fun magazine to access the Grognak, the Barbarian holotype game. Leave the office, climb the stairs, and enter the left room to hack Irma's terminal and gather information. Then, raid the First Aid box in the nearby room and return to the lower stage.
Meet Nick Valentine. Engage him in conversation about Kellogg and discuss The Glowing Sea. Decide whether you want Nick’s company for the upcoming journey. After that, leave the Memory Den and prepare to walk a long distance towards the south-west, where The Glowing Sea is located. Shield yourself from radiation dangers along the way.
Meds from Doctor Amari’s office should suffice, but you’ll also need a high-quality hazmat suit. Obtain it from Fallon’s, situated in Diamond City Market to the west of the Power Noodles bar. It provides a radiation damage resistance of 1000—just what you need.
Once properly equipped, make your way to Fort Hagen. From there, venture southwards until reaching a vegetation-clad road. In the wilderness, head south-east using the objective marker for direction. Afterward, head towards Mass Pike Interchange halfway along the lengthy journey.
From there, continue south until you see a lake. Move southeast, following the objective marker, and locate the glowing pool of water, aka the Mass Fusion Disposal Site. After reaching the road nearby, stick to it and maintain your direction towards the objective marker. Equip your hazmat suit and follow the overpass route across the wilderness.
Venture progressively towards The Glowing Sea's outskirts, where radiation levels will begin to increase. The hazmat suit offers substantial protection, allowing minimal damage. Journey south-west, guided by illuminated lights. Beware of radioactive puddles and hostile insects.
As you proceed, you’ll face some radioactive gunk-engulfed feral ghouls. Avoid them, carefully scaling the hill behind them. Head to the Crater of Atom.
Once at the Crater of Atom, communicate with a woman in a wooden house. Assure her of your benign intentions. Discuss Virgil and use persuasion to gain information. Then, head south-west towards a nearby hill marked by the objective marker. There, encounter large radioactive ponds filled with dangerous creatures.
After enduring another long walk, locate Virgil's cave amidst the rocks and proceed inside.
Speak with Virgil in the tunnel, convince him about Kellogg's demise, and ask him why he left the Institute. Tell him about your son, and he'll offer help in return for finding the serum. Confirm your knowledge of the synths' teleportation abilities and ask about acquiring a synth's molecular relay chip to enter the Institute. After concluding your conversation, you're directed to the ruins of CIT, and your current quest finishes with the Hunter/Hunted quest added to your log.
