Reddit Block Feature is Finally Working

At last, Reddit made its block feature work as it must. Now the feature works similar to other social networks and does not only hide blocked users’ posts from your feed but also prevents these users from interacting with your own posts in any way.

Obvious, But …

You may be surprised by the fact that blocking users worked differently before the update. In fact, the old version of the block feature allowed you only to mute posts from unwanted users but didn’t protect your own posts from comments and sharing. Now you can finally do that and guard your account against harassment attacks and other kinds of social media abuse. All the users who have been blocked will see your posts simply as deleted content and won’t be able to access your account. You can block anyone but moderators as they are obliged to see all the content of subreddits they moderate.

As for the content of blocked users, you will be able to see it if you want, but all the posts will be collapsed by default to help you avoid seeing unwanted messages. This update is also very helpful in situations when you want to report blocked users who publish offensive content. This way you will be able to track and eliminate any kind of potential harassment with the help of moderators.

Better Now?

While the blocking feature has seemingly become better, the is still a question. What if the user blocked by you decides to block you too? Would it mean that both of you will still be able to see each other’s posts? Hopefully, that will block posts of both users instead. What do you think about the new blocking feature, by the way? Did you lack it? In what way would you improve it? Let’s discuss it in the comments below and don’t forget to share this update with your Reddit friends. Stay tuned for more exciting news!
