Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer Reveal Shatters Records on Social Media

Rockstar Games has set a new record with a tweet that has taken the internet by storm, earning the distinction of being the most-liked tweet in gaming history. The announcement that a preview of the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 was set to debut on December 5 sparked social media buzz, amassing over 1.8 million likes within just a day.

Earlier, the title for the most-liked gaming tweet was held by Rockstar themselves, with their revelation in November 2023 that fans could expect the inaugural trailer for the subsequent Grand Theft Auto installment in December.

Back in February of 2022, Rockstar had confirmed that the latest addition to the Grand Theft Auto legacy was in a highly advanced stage of development, though they remained tight-lipped on the finer details of the project.

A significant breach in September 2022, known as one of the gaming world's most notorious data leaks, surprisingly gave gamers their initial glimpse into Grand Theft Auto 6. Over an hour of footage from the game’s alpha version was unexpectedly made public, offering a peek at the open-world gameplay. The unauthorized disclosure appeared to verify earlier speculation that the game is set in the fabled Vice City and introduces a female lead character for the first time.

With Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, projecting an increase in sales for the next fiscal cycle, the gaming community is rife with rumors that Grand Theft Auto 6 may hit the shelves within the fiscal year concluding in March 2025, given the anticipation of "several groundbreaking titles" on the horizon.
